| Saturday, August 19 The following summary of the last few days is an update by Duane Carson, Dan's FIL.
Thursday, the 17th, was a day of preparation for and infusion of chemotherapy. The infusion was from 6 PM to 10 PM and the serious immediate body reaction time started about 9PM.
Friday, the 18th, got better by about noon but Dan needed a lot of rest, and took it pretty easy although he did do a few walks around the circle, and he started lung exercises to prevent pneumonia. He also got some pain medication for his chest which was caused by his stomach and liver reaction to the treatment. At 5 PM he had to take some fluid for a C T Scan that was done about 8 PM. Then he was allowed a good night's sleep.
Sat. 19th, Dan is looking better today and trying to improve his activity level and get body functions back in operation; he even reviewed his email about 2 PM and set up the computer so I could make this input for him. By the way, Liz spent the last 2 nights in the hospital room with Dan on a pretty comfortable Murphy bed. Dottie and Duane are doing fine also.
... Dan here (about 3:00 Houston time). I just got done with a nap and a couple of speed laps around the floor with my trusty I.V. stand at my side. To elucidate further on 'immediate body reaction, feel free to ask Dave Sweet, high school friend who visited with his wife, around 9:00 Converstaion consisted of Hi Dave -- barf -- nice to meet you Leta -- hurl -- thanks for the collection of supportive emails from many other high school friend -- throw-up ... and so on.
Have continuously felt lifted up in spirit by all the prayers and support and emails and phone calls, etc. The tough part is over for now, just waiting for my systems to return to normal.
