Foot of Law Street in Pacific Beach

A Poem:
The Whispering Wave

Seventy-five surfers and more than two-hundred non-surfers (family and friends) gathered on the cliffs above the Law Street Beach to participate in the Paddle Out for Dan Siskowic.
It was a beautiful, gorgeous morning: cool, but no wind (there usually is)! Surfers (guys and girls) suited up and when the signal was given, all headed down the cliff, across the beach to pick up a carnation at the water's edge and then out into the Pacific Ocean to pay tribute to Dan.
The surfers formed a circle, after getting beyond the breaking waves, and all joined hands. The co-pastor offered prayer and everyone prayed the Lord's Prayer. A friend paid tribute to Dan and requested support of Liz, Cameron and Kyle in future days. Cameron thanked all the surfers for coming and then he and Kyle each scattered some of their father's ashes in the center of the circle. Surfers threw their carnations to the center and splashed water, indicating to those on the cliffs that their task had been completed. They had paid tribute to their father and friend, Dan.
